Leonardo DiCaprio claims he looked like his grandmother when he was filming scenes for his new movie.

The actor is widely considered to be one of the most handsome men in Hollywood. However, Leonardo insists he looked quite different when he was portraying an elderly J. Edgar Hoover.

The hunk suffered quite a shock when he caught a glimpse of his appearance.

“I was appalled because I didn’t look like my father or my grandfather — I looked like my grandmother!” Leonardo laughed to German magazine TV Movie.

The film J. Edgar follows the career of the FBI director — as well as his relationship with his mother and speculation that he was a closet cross dresser and homosexual.

Leonardo is proud to be taking on such a challenging role and found the character fascinating.

“I still wonder how Hoover could live at home with his mom till he was 40! He didn’t have any private life, just work, work, work,” he explained.

Leonardo also discussed his long-term goals.

The 37-year-old hunk has dated some of the world’s most beautiful women, including Gisele Bündchen, Bar Refaeli and most recently Blake Lively.

It appears the star is finally thinking about settling down.

“The next chapter [of my life] is called ‘family’. I always wanted a family,” he replied when asked about his plans for the future. “I don’t regret anything I’ve done [since Titanic]. Because I’m happy with my career and my private life.”
